The Harris County Flood Control District is buying houses in areas several feet deep in the floodplain and restoring them to their natural function, helping to avoid millions of dollars in damages.

Voters approved a $2.5B bond to complete repairs and invest in flooding resilience. These investments will be leveraged by federal grant dollars from a number of programs.
